JERKY FOR THE JERKY

 Clyde was enjoying a rod of tasty jerky that he'd made with his food dehydrator for his camping trip.  Nothing like tasty, homemade beef jerky! Marvin's Market sold the best beef in town, and it was the only cut that met Clyde's high standards.

The radio was baying out a lazy tune; jazz.  Clyde loved jazz. He felt that he could lay here, watch the stars, listen to jazz and be happy for the rest of his days dining on his tasty beef jerky.

His mind drifted off into space as he recounted the events of the day.  He supposed that he should feel a bit guilty....  He had come down pretty hard on Velma today.  Nonetheless, it wasn't any of her business that he'd been sleeping with other women. His life was private and none of her business.

And how dare she toss up that, "You could have given me a sexual disease," line at him!  

People overreacted these days - especially women!  Always afraid of contracting something - and the odds of what Velma had insinuated were so low it was laughable.  Even if he had been keeping three other partners.  Well, four if Wendy counted. But that was only a one night stand.

Clyde's mind resettled as the jazzy tune clicked off and the news slid onto the wires. It began with, "Breaking news to report! Madcow has been linked to the beef at Marvin's Market. If you have purchased this beef, return as soon as possible...."

"Yes, an extremely LOW odds of contracting a remote disease...."
