Through the bolts of lightening you make your way from the cheap tent to your vehicle. You notice that your neighboring campers are doing the same - at least the ones with the cheap tents, like yours. You spend the next three hours fighting sleep that won't come and an onslaught of sneezing.

Your head aches from the deafening thunder, and the intermittent blaring headlights from your neighboring camper who kept turning his truck on and off all night - to keep either warm or cool, depending on the season.

Your back aches from being gorged by the metal of the seatbelt that wedged into your flesh during the long, unending morning hours of sleepless flight. Your eyes feel like a slab of Grade #4 coarse sandpaper from lack of sleep. Your thighs are blistered and chapped from the wet heap of bedding, and from your damp underpants. It's not pretty.

So if you're looking to invest in a tent, stick with names that are associated with quality in the outdoor adventure industry, such as Northface and Eureka.

Before striking out on your camping adventure, consider airing out your new tent. The fumes that radiate from a new tent could make a raunchy skunk envious. If you suffer from allergies, this is a must-do task.

Be sure and purchase a good pounding tool to use when anchoring your tent at the campground. You can't always count on hand-sized rocks being plentiful at the campsite in the event you didn't come prepared with your pounding tool.
