Werewolf - The Companion, a short werewolf story - Act II

Helene drew her mouth together, forming a tight scowl, her gesture extenuating the wrinkles around faded, red lips.  "I cannot - and you should not ask me to even consider such a thing.  Why-what exactly is that beast, anyway?"

Helene eyed Fluffy as if she'd enjoy making her magically disappear and she must have sensed such, for she rolled up her upper lip and snarled viscously at her.  Helene then jumped back, expelling a short scream.

Lucy steadied Fluffy, then managed to inform Helene, "She is what is considered an exotic...."

"I don't care what it is - just get it out of here, now!" Helene demanded, her emotions uncontrollably raging to a point that Lucy knew oh so well.

Lucy shrugged, then eased out as she guided Fluffy away, "It's settled then.  I cannot stay."

Shocked, Helene recovered quickly almost racing to catch up with her determined sister's retreating form.  "But you must - and, and you will.  I will not have you throw dirt in my face after I've been good enough to offer you refuge."

Lucy stopped dead in her tracks, then turned to face her sister.  "If I stay, Fluffy stays."

There was an intense moment of silence, then Helene's hand smartly popped Lucy so hard that she sent her to the ground.  The wolf went wild, seeking vengeance and if not for Helene's servants, the woman would have been more dead than live.
