Werewolf - The Companion, a short werewolf story - Act IIILucy managed to pick herself up, then stumbled away as her sister spat accusations and names at her back as she slowly retreated down the lane and beyond. Three miles down the lane and totally exhausted, Lucy came to the humble town but knew that she would seek sleep in the woods for the gates to the city were closed as night was settling in.
She had no money for room and board, but was hoping to talk the innkeeper where she was to take up employment, hoping that he could work out something with her. Not a comfortable situation, but neither was sleeping in the woods. All the robbers shut out by the gates of the city would be lurking in the woods, eager to prey on innocent flesh. The only thing that would keep them at bay was the full moon waving overhead. Lucy created a make-shift bed from dry leaves in an obscure spot, then settled in for the night, falling instantly to sleep as she was met with total exhaustion......
