Werewolf - The Companion, a short werewolf story - Act IVIt seemed as if only a few minutes had passed and Lucy was being summoned awake. She tried desperately to focus against the bright rays of the sun as they snaked between the trees, and in doing such she was able to make out a group of older gentlemen dressed in fine raiment. One must have been a doctor for he begin looking her over, checking her for marks and bruises. As he worked, the man who seemed to be in charge asked, "Lucy Bantril?"
Lucy nodded, still trying to get her bearings. She heard the gentleman say, "You're quite lucky that you enjoyed a safe evening in these woods, for to many a lad, they have not been kind." He continued in a solemn voice, "I've some troubling news, child, about your sister." "Helene?" Lucy asked, trying to locate Fluffy amid her confusion and the doctor's probing. "Yes, Helene. We were summoned to the family estate before dawn by her servants, and it was they that told us of your approximate whereabouts. Helene was murdered, my child - by a wild man shortly after midnight. Her servants indicate that you are the sole surviving heir." Lucy held one hand to her throat, her other connecting with Fluffy and when she gazed down, the brilliance of the Tierra that adorned her head almost blinded her. Lucy deftly slipped it off onto the floor of the woods, its presence going unnoticed by all. Fluffy. One could not ask for a more noble companion.
